Ribs

Ribers - today mostly known as RKI - is Denmark's largest register of bad payers. The register allows companies to assess financial risk when entering into agreements with new or existing customers.

Behind Ribers is Experian, which operates and manages the registry, officially called Ribers Credit Information.

What are Ribers used for?

Ribers serves as a central source of information about payment remarks. When a customer - company or individual - defaults on a debt, the creditor can request to have them registered in Ribers.

Consequences of standing in Ribers

A registration in Ribers is far from trivial. It can have far-reaching consequences - especially for the registrant. Many industries, such as telecommunications, energy and finance, actively use credit reports as part of customer assessment.

If a person or company is registered, it will often lead to:

  • Refusal of credit
  • Cash payment requirement
  • Rejection as a customer
  • Difficulty taking out loans or entering into agreements

In other words: A notation in Ribers can make it difficult to act as a financial player in both private and professional settings.

How do I remove a registration?

There are basically two ways out of Ribers:

  1. Payment of the debt - then the creditor can request the registration to be deleted
  2. Automatic deletion after 5 years - regardless of whether the debt is paid or not

It is important to note that removal from the register does not mean that the debt ceases to exist. It still exists and can still be recovered.

How to check if you are in Ribers

Everyone has the right to see what information is registered about them. Experian has made it possible to check your status via the platform www.dininfo.dk. Here you can log in with MyID and access your data.

How many are registered?

According to Experian, at the beginning of 2025, 168,442 people and companies were registered in Ribers, corresponding to a total debt amount of over DKK 8 billion. This is a decrease compared to the previous year, indicating that more Danes have either paid their debts - or have avoided getting registrations.

Qatchr's approach: Broader data base than RKI alone

At Qatchr, we believe that credit ratings should be based on more than one register. That's why we combine data from multiple sources - including payment remarks (via debtiorlisten.dk - our own debt register), ownership structure, accounting figures and business behavior - so you as a business get a broader and more accurate picture of your customers.

With our platform you can:

  • Foretage kreditopslag i realtid
  • Monitorere eksisterende kunder for ændringer
  • Get access to key metrics and credit indicators
  • Automate risk assessment in your own systems

This way, you'll not only be notified when a problem arises, but also have the opportunity to prevent it in time.
