Data updates

The term data refreshes is used in a number of sectors and industries, but of course they all mean the same thing; updates to your data and datasets.

Data updates are often made from one or more internal or external sources - with the aim of always having correct and valid information.

Most data updates are often done with the help of external sources - such as accounting data, the CVR register, the CPR register - or from more industry-specific databases such as BBR, OIS and similar.

The advantage of using public registers and databases is that they are often updated in real-time or at a very high frequency. This means that when a company changes important information in the CVR register, this information is often available within minutes. If a company chooses to use the CVR register for its data updates, the company will often be able to get this information the moment it is updated.

Data updates are often used in connection with CRM systems, ERP systems or with your own internal systems where it is essential that the customer has the actual information about a customer - for example, if goods are continuously sent to a customer's address or invoices are sent to the customer.

Why use data updates?

Businesses have large amounts of data - data that generates revenue and value for them - whether it's for advertising to customers, shipping goods or issuing invoices.

But data is rarely static - and it's rarely up to date and current if the company doesn't actively take action to update it.

For example, more than 854,000 Danes moved address in 2023, which is just over 15% of the total Danish population. Statistically speaking, this means that your company's customer data contains a minimum of 15% errors - based on relocated private individuals alone, if your customers consist of a representative sample of the Danish population. In addition, name changes, death, etc. can also spoil the complete picture of your data set.

The same applies to company generalia, where companies may have changed name, address or closed down since you first processed the data.

In other words, there are many good reasons to make use of data updates - especially when it comes to customers' generalia.
